Anthony Ashford was born and educated in London. He worked as a designer in graphic media for some years and then after further training began teaching adults with learning difficulties in Kent.
His love of art led him to gain a Fine Arts degree at the Kent Institute of Art and his paintings are now in private collections throughout England. He has exhibited in London, Rye and now with the Terence Macklin Gallery.
The
philosophy that currently informs his thinking lies in the area of phenomenology
and structuralism. His paintings are concerned with the fracturing of
the convention that binds the signifier to the signified.
